AIDSWEEKLY Plus; Monday, May 10, 1999
Daniel J. DeNoon, Senior Editor

CW HENDERSON PUBLISHER -- AIDS policy documents from all over the world are now available in a searchable database.

The compendium is the first fruit of a five-year project begun in September 1995 and funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). It was developed by the Futures Group International (FUTURES) in collaboration with Research Triangle Institute (RTI) and the Center for Development and Population Activities (CEDPA).

Included in the ever-expanding database are 2400 annotated citations to 91 source policy documents from more than 50 nations. New policies and laws will be added as they become available.

According to Kay Wilson of FUTURES, the aim of the policy project is to collect comprehensive national HIV/AIDS policies and laws. The database also includes national strategy documents, national program plans, and medium-term plans.

The compendium is available in three forms:

Searches can be made by topic or by full-text search for key words or phrases.

Detailed information on the compendium, including a list of contributors, is available on the Internet at <http://209.27.118.9/aids2/>.
